Teaching Methods

You'll learn from highly-qualified and experienced academic ATMC staff. With small class sizes and an emphasis on face-to-face personal teaching methods, including lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical classes, you'll gain the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the workforce.
Lectures and tutorials are important components of Australian education. Lecturers are the best time to take in the information from the unit and make notes, while tutorials provide an opportunity to discuss the lecture and related topics in detail. You'll be asked to present papers individually or as part of a group in a tutorial.
A well organised and regular study program is essential for your academic success. Self-directed study is a your personal program of study which fits around the contact hours of lectures and tutorials. This personal program includes reading, research, writing up lecture notes, writing essays and reports, and studying for exams. Lecturers and tutors are available to assist students if they have any questions or concerns.

Assessment Methods

Course specific information on assessments and standards is given to you during your first lecture for each unit. Part of your assessments may include regular written assignments, tutorial participation, practical work, projects and research reports, short tests, semester and final examinations. The USC faculty board will moderate your assessment and examinations, and will approve final results.

As a USC student based in Melbourne or Sydney, you'll have online access to USC online resources such as e-books, online journals and e-reserve material, as well as presecribed texts and required readings for your course.

The ATMC library also carries a number of specialist textbooks and journals in different fields to help with your studies. In addition, you can also utilise the library's computer work stations for private study and online research, as well as scanning and printing services (students are allocated a monthly quota).
